xAI has released a new AI model for X users called Grok-2, which enhances chat, code, and reasoning functionalities, positioning Elon Musk’s xAI as a key player in the AI landscape.
X is Elon Musk’s social media platform, and xAI has now added Grok-2, the newest feature for improving chat, coding, and reasoning.
On August 13, 2015 xAI, an AI startup owned by Elon Musk initiated a new release that is Grok-2 which is an improved version of its earlier version, Grok-1. 5 AI model for X users.
The new Grok-2 beta includes two models: Two majors pieces of software where Grok-2 and the smaller Grok-2 mini. To be clear, Grok AI search assistant is provided for the X users only for Premium and Premium plus plans, not the basic one.

Grok-2 uses real-time information from X and combines text and vision understanding to handle complex tasks. Grok-2 mini, which is simpler, focuses on speed.
When Grok was first released in November 2023, Elon Musk claimed that Grok-1 outperformed the original ChatGPT in some academic tests. Grok-1.5 was introduced on April 12.
The beta version of Grok-2 that has been developed now has been reviewed on a platform known as Chatbot Arena which focuses on assessing large language models.
Furthermore, LMSYS Org states that Grok-2 has integrated all of the capabilities that OpenAI’s GPT-4o developed and launched on May 13, as presented.
“With over 12,000 community votes, sus-column-r has secured the #3 spot on the overall leaderboard, even matching GPT-4o! It excels in Coding (#2), Hard Prompts (#4), and Math (#2).”
Still, ChatGPT-4o remains a leader in terms of versatility as an AI assistant, followed by Gemini 1.5 from Google.
xAI is expected to provide Grok-2 and Grok-2 Mini to developers through an enterprise API by the end of August.
On May 27, xAI also revealed its $6 billion Series B round, a figure that has catapulted the company to a $24 billion valuation within 11 months alone.
This rapid growth underscores the company’s significant impact in the AI industry.
