A United States Democratic Party representative Ro Khanna hosted a round table talk for crypto figures that can impact the policy direction of Vice President Kamala Harris election campaign.
The crypto influencers are directed to meet Ro Khanna privately next week to address the challenges faced in crypto regulations and propose possible changes.
Bloomberg presented a report that disclosed that high-ranking officials from Harris’s campaign will take part in the meeting along with senior White House adviser Anita Dunn, Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reed, and National Economic Adviser Lael Brainard will also attend the meeting.
Harris election campaign engages with crypto sector
The roundtable talk could be a positive indication from the White House for the cryptocurrency industry and address its concerns about crypto regulations, and the prominent growth of the Digital asset industry in the United States.
The meeting comes after a roundtable in July where White House officials and crypto executives met. Representatives from big crypto companies like Ripple and Coinbase also attended the meeting.
About 50 million U.S. residents have invested in Cryptocurrencies, and now the presidential candidates are showing their interest in properly regulating crypto in the country.
Donald Trump, former president of the Republic party also proposed to make crypto part of the Federal Reserves and criticize Joe Biden’s administration for making crypto regulation tough in the country.
At the Bitcoin 2024 conference which was held on July 27, Trump promised to acquire 200,000 Bitcoin into Fed Reserves and will dismiss SEC chairperson Gary Gensler if reelected.
Seeking to mend fences
In July, Harris‘s advisor Khanna reached out to several leading crypto firms to fix the broken relationship between the Democratic Party and the crypto industry.
After a letter from Democratic US House representatives, there’s a growing push for the party to rethink its view on the digital asset sector. The letter stresses the importance of moving from a hostile approach to a more supportive one.
The Harris campaign has also hired David Plouffe as a senior adviser. Plouffe, a veteran strategist, looked into cryptocurrency opportunities after leaving the White House in 2013. He joined Binance’s Global Advisory Board in 2022.
