OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is working on a new AI model called “Strawberry.” This project builds on their previous Q* project, which was announced last November and was seen as a major breakthrough in creating more powerful AI.
The new model, Strawberry, aims to help OpenAI’s tools reach human-level intelligence by improving their ability to reason and understand complex issues.
According to a July 12 report by Reuters, Strawberry will be able to scan the internet on its own and do deep research, which means it can solve more complicated real-world problems.
According to an OpenAI spokesperson, Strawberry could be used for a variety of tasks, such as making major scientific discoveries or creating new software applications, Reuters reported. The spokesperson added:
“We want our AI models to see and understand the world more like we do. Continuous research into new AI capabilities is a common practice in the industry, with a shared belief that these systems will improve in reasoning over time.”
Strawberry plans to make AI responses more human-like by doing a detailed analysis of OpenAI’s current models.
In January 2024, OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, mentioned that improving AI’s reasoning ability is crucial.
Strawberry is still being developed, and it’s not yet known when it will be ready for the public, according to Reuters.
“How Strawberry works is a tightly kept secret even within OpenAI,” From its conversation with an OpenAI spokesperson, Reuters reported that Strawberry builds on last November’s Q* project. Industry experts called Q* a major breakthrough, enabling the creation of much more powerful AI models.
Recently, tech giants Microsoft and Apple left their board positions at OpenAI due to growing regulatory scrutiny.
Additionally, OpenAI has partnered with Los Alamos National Laboratory, known for developing the first nuclear weapon, to explore using AI in bioscience research.
