MetaMask, launched as a browser extension in 2016 is considered one of the most interactive wallets for DeFi applications. It offers a wide variety of functions and is easy to use which is the base of its popularity.

The wallet is available in extensions on Chrome, Internet Explorer, and other Internet browsers, however, in 2020 it got a face of mobile application for Android and IOS. While working as a crypto wallet, MetaMask also acts as an ID card and is capable of managing tax reporting for users.

A public address is generated by the wallet to identify accounts in DeFi applications, enabling users to transfer crypto assets and non-fungible tokens using this address. It is also used to earn tokens in the blockchain games.

MetaMask’s position as the top crypto wallet has been compromised recently, especially since November 2022, when Consensys updated its privacy policy and started collecting users’ IP addresses.

Besides MetaMask several other wallets are on the list of top performers and offer similar services like MetaMask.

    Phantom

Phantom Wallet, launched in 2021, is popular among Solana ecosystem users. It supports Solana along with Bitcoin, Polygon, and Ether offering a unified platform for managing cryptocurrencies and accessing DApps. Through its browser extension and mobile application users can interact with major NFT marketplaces and display their collections.

Phantom is a non-custodial wallet that does not require any personal information to use this wallet and gives full access to digital funds. Its securities include a fraud deduction system that immediately detects any suspicious activity and deals with it accordingly.

Users of this wallet can add funds using bank cards and transfers. The wallet also features a swap function, enabling quick exchanges between different cryptocurrencies. A tutorial section is also available in the app to guide new users.

    Exodus

It belongs to the Web-3 generation, supporting multiple cryptocurrencies, additionally, it also supports D-Applications and swap exchanges. It is a PC wallet but also supports IOS and Android.

The main point of its publicity is that it supports multiple cryptocurrencies and provides access to 50 networks.

The sharing option in the wallet allows users to exchange one currency for another within a wallet without the need for any third-party access. A special feature just available for SOL, ADA, and Matic, users can look it for a limited time and receive gifts in return.

    Brave

Cryptocurrency wallet built on Brave Internet browser, providing access to multiple cryptocurrencies including Brave native token BAT. It provides access to purchase NFTs and digital assets through Banking cards.

In the beginning, Brave started to copy MetaMask, but as Brave developed, the team decided to achieve better security and privacy with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet in the browser. There is also a mobile version available for Android and iOS.

With a user-friendly interface, Brave offers quick transfer of assets, however, it does not support DApps or Bitcoin.

    Rabby

Rabby Wallet is a multichain crypto wallet with a modern look, made by DeBank. It supports tokens and coins from 141 Ethereum Virtual Machine compatible networks.

Rabby Wallet currently operates on a desktop version, however, a beta version for Android and IOS is also available.

In the past, scammers tried to create fake mobile apps and tricked users by spreading news of the wallet’s supposed mobile release to steal their crypto. It doesn’t require user identification to access the wallet and alerts users about tokens and projects if it suspects might be scams.

    Zengo

Zengo Wallet, which started its operations in 2019, allows users to secure their wallets with multiparty computation. This process includes two or more entities to compute output without revealing the source of input.

By using the Zengo wallet, users can secure their crypto assets without a single weak spot, like a seed phrase. MPC lets multiple devices, like a remote server and a mobile phone, handle all the necessary security tasks for the wallet.

No private key is required to access this wallet, which makes it further secure as there is nothing to steal, however, every user can back up their inputs which does not risk the system.

Zengo’s MPC protocol includes several security features, an account password that is verified through Email, a 3D lock composed of facial recognition or biometric system, an initial recovery file from Zengo, dual storage, and a smart contract to verify the owner’s signature.

Users should follow the instructions carefully so that no one can access their wallets. The wallet also provides access to 120 cryptocurrencies and NFTs.
